The BEEF Team made strides across Texas participating in races in San Antonio, Austin, Galveston, Dallas and College Station. More than 200 team members wore their “Beef. Fuel for the Finish” jerseys while participating in races, runs and triathlons. There are more than 1,000 BEEF Team members who recognize the nutritional benefits of lean beef and the vital role this high-quality protein plays in their training.
The Texas Beef Council (TBC) recently appeared on five different television segments showcasing delicious beef recipes. As part of the checkoff-funded monthly public relations campaign, the television segments aired in Waco, Austin, Tyler, Amarillo and Beaumont. Cooking segments offer a great way to educate consumers on beef’s versatility and nutritional content, while providing recipes and healthy living tips.
Beef Quality Assurance
The Texas Beef Council (TBC) recently partnered with Texas A&M University AgriLife Extension and Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association to host a Texas Beef Quality Assurance Producer (TBQP) update for more than 50 Texas Department of Criminal Justice ranch managers. Representing more than 10,000 head of cattle, the ranch managers learned the latest news in best management practices. The mission of the TBQP program is to promote good management practices for cattle producers in an effort to strengthen consumer confidence in beef as a wholesome food product. Educating Texas beef producers about beef quality assurance practices continues to be an essential part of the checkoff-funded program.
Harnessing the Power of Online Videos
In 2014, “Beef. It’s What’s For Dinner.” videos featuring the "Rodeo" music with great beef meal ideas and recipe inspiration reached more than 5 million consumers. This helped to convey the message that lean beef is nutritious, delicious and easy to prepare for any occasion, any day of the week. The videos instructed consumers in creating mouthwatering savory dishes for their family, like beef stir fry, lean hamburgers, steak salad and more. Stay tuned for more checkoff-funded “Beef. The Texas Beef Council (TBC) conducts the $1 per head national checkoff program for Texas beef producers and is also the contractor for the Beef Promotion Research Council of Texas (BPRCT), which administers the $1 per head Texas state checkoff program. TBC’s mission is to increase beef demand in the state through programs of beef promotion, research and education. TBC also helps fund national and international beef checkoff programs to increase marketing opportunities around the globe. The BPRCT’s mission is to improve Texas producer profitability by strengthening and expanding beef demand. The TBC and the BPRCT are directed by a 20-member board of cattlemen and women representing the state’s beef producers.
